The First Noel (Congregation)

About the Song

Traditional carol, arranged for congregational accompaniment.

To use this score, the organ will play the traditional hymn parts which the congregation sings. 4-hand piano accompanies the organ and congregation.

Other than the introduction, the arrangement strictly follows the harmonies of hymn #213 in the LDS hymnbook. The hymnbook includes two verses. More may be sung by repeating the accompaniment. You may wish to vary organ stops and include or omit various parts of the piano score for each verse.

Like the other instrumental accompaniments on this site, this one is written to support a large congregation. The accompaniments vary in difficulty, and in suitability for various uses. You’ll need to analyze the score to determine if the accompaniment fits your particular situation and capabilities.

Lyrics

The First Noel, the angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel!
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel!
Born is the King of Israel!

Thank you! Thank you! We have so much fun singing your congregational arrangements for Christmas and Easter.
We are blessed with talented people to be able to carry off your beautiful arrangements. People thank me for them but it takes your arrangements, talented people and a conductor brave enough to carry it off.

I wish there was somewhere I could hear the arrangements with all of the instruments together so that I could hear it before we run through it.

So, if anyone is out there who has this recorded somewhere please share.

Sincere thanks for sharing your wonderful and amazing gifts with the world.
