All solos may be assigned to sections of the choir
if desired. All sectional passages may be assigned to soloists if desired.
The narration for this program consists entirely excerpts from Matthew
1 and Luke 2, KJV. Feel free to substitute from other scriptural versions
or to use a simple retelling.
Very few dynamic markings are included for the interludes, or for the final
number with the congregation, as the dynamics for these passages will be
determined by your acoustics, amplification, choir/congregation size, etc.
Two obbligatos for flute are included. These might also be performed easily on violin, or other C instrument.
This cantata lasts 25-30 minutes.

Silent Night: Piano, Choir, Flute (optional), Organ and Congregation
|
 |
The congregation sings the standard hymn
version of Silent Night (1985 LDS Hymns #204). The choir and organ read the hymnal version from the score included. The
piano accompaniment may be simplified for measures 25-33 by omitting the
right-hand notes and dividing the arpeggios between the hands.
