He is Risen!

Lyrics & Information
LyricsAbout the song...
He is risen! He is risen!
Tell it out with joyful voice
He has burst His three-days’ prison
Let the whole wide earth rejoice
Death is conquered, man is free
Christ has won the victory

Come with high and holy hymning
Chant our Lord’s triumphant lay
Not one darksome cloud is dimming
Yonder glorious morning ray
Breaking o’er the purple east
Symbol of our Easter feast

He is risen! He is risen!
He hath opened heaven’s gate
We are free from sin’s dark prison
Risen to a holier state
And a brighter Easter beam
On our longing eyes shall stream

Text by Cecil Frances Alexander

This arrangement wins the award for easiest choral selection on the site. You could probably prepare it in half a practice. However, lest your pianist get bored, the accompaniment is rather(!) challenging. Watch the tempo. It’s marked at 88bpm, and that’s really about right. Those of you who like to take it at the high end of the 92-204 that the LDS hymnal specifies are going to have to adjust your internal metronomes (or brave the wrath of your accompanist) if you use this arrangement.

We sang Angels We Have Heard on High, the congregational accompaniment organ with 4 hands on piano for our closing number in our Christmas program. It was so beautiful! Do you have an Easter song written with 4-hands and organ accompaniment? I was hoping you might have one written for He is Risen as well. I was recently called to be a choir director and your music and arrangements are very inspiring I used your arrangements exclusively in our Christmas program because they were so beautifully written. Thank you so much for sharing! Debi

Just curious….we love the Angels We Have Heard on High, congregational accompaniment organ with 4 hands on piano….are there others written this way…I was curious about Christ The Lord Is Risen Today. Thank you so much. Eddie Yadon

I love this version you have made. Our choir is learning it to sing this month. I was wondering if their was a mp3 version with someone singing it. I am trying to work on my section and sometimes it is hard to hear the notes. Thank you for your time and thanks for creating this version.
