Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Lyrics & Information
LyricsAbout the song...
Come, thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer; ( def. )
Here by thy great help I’ve come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.

Text by Robert Robinson; Melody from John Wyeth’s “Repository of Sacred Music,” Part Second; Arranged by Sally DeFord

This beautiful melody tugged at me for quite awhile, and though there are plenty of arrangements of it out there I gave in and did one anyway, simply for the pleasure of arranging it.

This is a very simple arrangement, without even a single key change. The obbligato included is written for two C instruments. In recordings it’s easy to balance a solo voice and two instruments–in live performance it will be tricky to use two instruments without overpowering a solo voice. The obbligatos will probably only be useful for choral renditions, unless your soloist is well amplified.

    My daughter also sang a duet version in HS and would like to sing it with her mission companion. I was almost sure it was a Sally Deford arrangement. Did you have one before that is no longer on your site?

    Sally . you are an angel to share your talent with such grace. love it!

    Thank you so much!! This is such beautiful music:)

    Sheet music for this piece is available for violin solo in beginning and advanced versions on Sara Noel Bauman’s website at if you are interested.

    My son and daughter have sang your duet version of “Come Thou Fount”, but I don’t see it on your site now. Can we still get he duet version?

    I saw a few comments above about a duet verson of the song Come Thou Fount, I was also wondering if you have one available. I sung a duet SA on my mission but lost the music and have no idea who wrote it, I have been looking for another duet for a while. Thanks for all you amazing music.

    I am directing this piece for Stake Conference using two violins. I am frustrated that I cannot print a score. If I need to bring in the violins, I have to write in their entrances by hand. Can you make a score for this?

    She has one of the best voices I have ever heard. Looking forward to hearing her sing more..

    Is there a duet version available?

    I would love a SSA version of this hymn

    My wife purchased a duet version of this Song a few years ago and we have sung together on numerous occasions. We are moving and have already boxed up our music and have now been asked to sing in church next week. Do you still have the duet version available? If so, can we still get it?
