Music by Adolphe-Charles Adam
Text by Placide Clappeau; translation by John S. Dwight
Arranged by Sally DeFord
The piano/vocal score is designed for choir, soloist and congregation, though the congregational singing may be omitted if desired. Ease of performance was the number one priority, so the vocal parts are very standard, with the verses sung unison or solo, and the chorus sung in the traditional SATB harmony. The piano accompaniment might be a bit challenging through the chorus, but is otherwise fairly easy.
Obbligatos are provided for C instrument (either treble or bass clef) and for Bb instrument--use one or the other--not both. A half-sheet vocal score for either verse three or all verses is provided to print for the congregation.
