Basics of Using This Site
You navigate this site by using the pulldown menus right at the top of the white space. See the words in white? Those are menus. If they don't work for you, you can use the site map. The link to that is at the bottom of the white space on each page.
Throughout the site, the right-click button is your friend. If you want to save a file to your drive, just right-click the link and choose the appropriate option.
Most links are blue. (The exceptions are the menus.) Links aren't underlined until you hover your mouse over them.
Audio files can be streamed (requires Flash player) or downloaded. Most MP3 downloads are free. Files marked ($) are from commercial CDs and there is a charge for these downloads. These links will take you to the artist's download area.
More help can be found on the FAQ page.
Sheet Music
The scores on this site are available at no charge. You may print and copy as many as you need for non-commercial use. You will need a PDF Reader installed on your computer to view/print these scores. There are lots of free ones out there, including the Adobe Reader.
Most scores are now also offered in Personal Composer (.pc) format. These files can be opened using the Personal Composer demo found here. The advantage of this format is that the score can be transposed to any key you like. (Windows only.)
To begin, go to any of the several lists available. (Choose from the pulldown "Sheet Music" menu, or use the Site Map.) Browse the list of your choice, and when you find music that interests you, click on the title. That will take you to a page describing the song, its voicing, lyrics, etc.
To view/print the score, click a link in the "Scores" section. After the file transfer is completed, the music will appear on your screen, and can be printed from there.
Recordings
The recordings on this site can be streamed (requires Flash) or downloaded. The "play" button is the black triangle at the left side of the player.
All audio files can be streamed free of charge. Most downloads are also free. The exceptions are those recordings that are taken from commercial CDs--there may be a charge to download these. If so, the "Download" link will be followed by a "$" and you will be taken to the artist's download area. (Producing commercial albums costs a f o r t u n e. Do these wonderful artists a favor and drop some coins in their jukeboxes. :)
Many of the recordings are available on CD. These are the same recordings found on the site--the difference is that the CDs use higher-quality files.
Kunaki.com handles the business end of it (thank goodness--I could just see myself up to my ears in CD mailers and jewel cases) and gives you several different options for shipping. Please keep in mind that even if you ask for overnight or two-day shipping, orders aren't processed on weekends, and UPS doesn't deliver on weekends.
If there's a problem with your order, please contact Kunaki customer service. (Remember to include your order number.) If you have trouble with them, please let me know. If you do not wish to use a credit card on line, you may send a check to me and I'll be glad to place your order and have them ship directly to you.
